Creative expression is celebrated at MileStone Lane. Art is a natural activity that supports free play and learning. The freedom to engineer different materials in a natural and unstructured way allows for exploration and experimentation. Artistic expression and self-directed exploration are not only fun, but educational as well.
Art allows children to practice a wide range of skills for learning.
Some of those skills are:
- Cognitive
Children compare, predict, plan, and problem solve
- Physical
Children use small motor skills to paint, write, glue, use clay, and make collages
- Language and literacy
Children may choose to discuss their art and add print to it
(on their own or by dictating to a teacher)
